America’s Inevitable Breakup Is On The Horizon

If you thought Joe Biden’s victory over Donald Trump would save the United States, think again. While Biden’s victory is welcomed and will do genuine good, he’s only saved the country from the short-run horror of another Trump term. Biden’s victory might actually make the country’s long-run problems worse — and seal its doom as a unified country.

Why? Because in the absence of major policy changes and political realignment, numerous signs indicate that the United States is moving toward disintegration. Whether in one decade or three, expect major secessionist movements to emerge, first on the right and then on the left.

Thirty Years Ago, The Dissolution Of America Was Unthinkable

As a college student in 1991, I took a trip to Paris with a high school friend. We didn’t have much money, so we stayed in a basic youth hostel. Hostels were great for meeting young people from all over the world.

As it turned out, the hostel hosted a group of young people I would never have met in years past: East Germans, now able to travel without restrictions just over a year after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
