Ask the 218,000 Americans COVID-19 has killed. Ask the people who lost their homes — or lives — in the California wildfires or the Louisiana hurricanes.

Just because dystopia hasn’t touched you, personally, yet, doesn’t mean dystopia isn’t present. And for those of us who believe science, we know that climate catastrophes are only going to accelerate. Nowhere did Umair suggest everyone was going to die in 2020. He’s saying that the construct of our civilization and the institutions it rests upon are in peril in coming years.
