For Egypt to claim that the pyramids and pharoahs represent “Egyptian culture" is a stretch. The ancient civilization would be alien in language, culture, and religion to any modern Egyptian. The *people* are literally different, after successive waves of conquest (from Greece to Rome to Arabs to Ottomans) and migration over the ensuing millennia. There’s simply not enough continuity there to make such a strong claim.
Is ancient Egypt a precursor and contributor to modern Egypt? Sure. But it’s also a contributor to world history. Virtual representations and visits should be encouraged so long as they don’t perpetuate stereotypes or hatred.
