Having paid off my mortgage in full, I’m left with a sense of stability and peace. Property taxes are far lower than rent, and my monthly expenses are way down. Obviously this isn’t in reach for everyone but it does merit noting that if you can pay off a mortgage early you will no longer have that cost structure in place.
