I respectfully disagree, insofar as *most Americans are asleep*. They don’t see the peril: From genuine fascism, climate crisis, the ongoing COVID pandemic, or inequality. They fall neatly into the narrative of normalcy. I see this in even very educated people. The first need is to shock people out of the stupor and to SEE. Writers like Jessica Wildfire — recently attacked as a doom and gloomer — actually do present solutions, but the problem is that the system consistently blocks those solutions.

I say bring on the diagnosis of problems until people SEE.
