I respectfully disagree with the both-sides-ing intrinsic to this piece. The deeper one looks, the greater realization that the risk profile of the world continues to increase, the safety nets continue to erode, and major existential risks like climate change and nuclear war simply aren't being taken seriously.

You also realize that anti-"Doomer" narratives are pushed with a great deal of intention and self-interest by the forces of capitalism.
