I think the jury remains out on all of this. The cultural foothold that fascism and the GOP has gained is reinforced by severely undemocratic institutions like the Electoral College and the Senate, which disproportionately benefit the facsists. The Democrats could still lose the midterms. There is a chance of resilience but it's not a given.
