In ‘Rise of the Creative Class,’ Richard Florida suggests that the most competitive geographies will be cosmopolitan and tolerant. That rules out Arkansas, with its anti-LGBTQ laws and even hurts Georgia, a state with cosmopolitan centers that’s also bringing back voter suppression laws reminiscent of Jim Crow. Basically, red state bullshit will undermine these efforts to lure talent because the creative class values diversity, equity, inclusion, and cosmopolitanism.
