It’s not an oppression Olympics. I’m a queer, nobinary, multiracial person of African-American and Indian-American heritage. I know a lot of trans folks and they have valid reasons for being upset. Just as in any civil rights movement, there will be radicals, progressives, and moderates. Characterizing the trans community as a whole as an outrage mob is painting with a broad brush. Chimamanda using trans-exclusionary language is deserving of critique. People wanting to live in freedom and dignity is not narcissism — be they a member of the trans, gay, Muslim, Black, or any other marginalized groups.
